Frequestly asked questions:

Q... I have no chimney, can I still have a multi fuel stove installed into my house?

A... Having no chimney is not a problem. A stove can be installed using a rigid insulated twin wall flue, this can be take up through a ceiling or out from the back of the stove and up the side of the house. Many regulations can affect where the route of the flue will go but this can be looked into on a survey.

Q... I would like a gas fire installed but have no chimney.

A... Again, not a problem. There are other options available to you.

Power flue/fan assisted fire: Works by the fan taking the flue gases out. An electric supply is needed for the fan. Balanced flue: All balanced flue fires are behind glass and are more often than not very efficient. The balanced flue terminal takes air in from outside and emissions out. Many fires terminate straight out the back on to an outside wall but some, particularly the Faber range need to flue a certain vertical distance before they can terminate (please contact us for specific flue requirements). A balanced flue system can also be incorporated into an existing chimney. Twin wall gas flue: If you have a blank wall, no flue and your fireplace is not on an outside wall, fear not. It is possible to install twin wall gas flue on to the top of a gas fire using the appropriate adapters and flue up either through the property or up and through an outside wall continuing vertically to the point of termination. The fire box together with the flue could be concealed behind a false chimney breast built in stud work giving the impression that your new fireplace and gas fire are built into a proper chimney. Flueless gas fires: They are, as their name suggests, completely "flueless". These fires boast 100% efficiency. The gases within the fire are burnt cleanly and the burnt gases are then passed through a catalytic converter. Oxygen sticks to the catalytic converter. If a carbon monoxide molecule meets with the oxygen this in turn turns the molecule into carbon dioxide which is harmless. Air vents are required with these particular fires. Pre Cast Flue: This type of flue is usually built within the wall of the property using special concrete flue blocks whereby a flue passage runs through them. This type of flue can only take the depth of a very shallow fire.
